Salem-Keizer Meals on Wheels, Senior Townhouse, Inc. is a privately funded, community-based
nonprofit organization.
We are the Salem-Keizer area’s only home delivered meal program, serving seniors and those unable to shop or prepare meals for themselves due to illness or disability and/or at-risk of hunger since 1970.

We also operate two meal sites including the new Center 50+ City of Salem Senior Center where seniors can come to socialize and gather with friends while enjoying our chef inspired menu, Monday – Friday. A frozen meal program is available as well for weekends and holidays.
Our mission to promote the nutritional health, independence, and social well being of our clients and neighbors by being the preeminent provider of senior nutrition in our community.
THE PEOPLE WE SERVE
Salem-Keizer Meals on Wheels serves seniors and adults who are unable to shop or prepare meals for themselves due to illness or disability and/or at risk of hunger.
Our clients are the elderly who value their independence and want to stay in the comfort of their own home. They are disabled adults who are homebound and caregivers who are dealing with the stressors of age / illness, and they are persons convalescing after a stay in the hospital who need our care.
The average age of those we serve is 80 years of age. The majority are woman, living alone, and suffering from a chronic disease or disability – such as arthritis, heart disease or diabetes.
More than half of the persons we serve at or below the poverty line.
OUR VOLUNTEERS
Our volunteers are people just like you! Last year, approximately 400 volunteers served over 115,000 meals to seniors and disabled adults in our area. People join our meals on wheels family by contacting the program directly via our main office and talking with our Volunteer Manager or by through one of our many community partners: service organizations, the faith community and/or business-related volunteer service programs.
HOW ARE WE FUNDED
As a private nonprofit organization, Salem-Keizer Meals on Wheels does not collect government funding/subsidies. Approximately 65% of our revenue is from fees for service, with the remaining 35% made up entirely from donations and by fund-raising events such as our Annual Spring Auction. Our supporters include individuals, churches, businesses and corporations, clubs and organizations, as well as private agencies.
